Fire stops MMK EAF, production schedule spared
A fire occurred at the transformer room of MMK’s electric-arc furnace-1. However, although the unit has been stopped to assess damage, it should not impact production schedule, the firm tells Kallanish.
It will probably take up to 2-3 weeks to replace the power transformer, according to preliminary estimates. As a result, electric steel will be produced only at one furnace during the repair of EAF‑1.
