Dutch firm embarks on greenfield wire rod project
Dutch rebar and wire mesh producer Van Merksteijn is taking tangible measures to encounter the prevailing shortage of wire rod in Europe. It is elaborating plans to establish a wire rod mill in Eemshaven, in the north of the Dutch province of Groningen. On the last working day before Christmas, the company took the first step towards the realising the project by signing an agreement with the port authority of Eemshaven, it says in an online blog.
