Downswing continues in Turkish scrap market
Most Turkish mills have maintained their domestic scrap buying prices for a long while, Kallanish notes. However, values are falling gradually each day on a dollar basis due to the continuing depreciation of the lira.
Following the sharp fall seen in scrap prices last week, before the Eid holiday, sentiment in the market has worsened. Turkish mills, struggling to sell steel, are seen halting scrap purchases and decreasing their price targets gradually.
