Danieli wins Vietnamese micromill contact
Steel plant and equipment specialist Danieli tells Kallanish that it has won an order from steelmaker Vietnam-Japan Steel (Vija) for a new micromill.
Vija, based in Hai Phong, has two plants integrating meltshops and a rolling mill for bar and wire rod manufacture to service the local market, Danieli says. The Italian company will supply a micromill for small-scale / low-cost production of rebar products.
The new minimill will produce 350.000 tonnes/year of rebar products from 10-41mm in bundles, with length from 9-15 metres and with a maximum weight of 4 tonnes. This will be rolled from 150mm square billets themselves produced on a single-strand fast-cast machine, also supplied by Danieli.
No value or timeframe for the contract was specified.
