CRC, HDG prices in Turkey follow flat course
Prices of cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot-dipped galvanized coil (HDG) in the Turkish market have remained flat over the past week, market sources tell Kallanish.
Turkish mills have kept their CRC offer prices at $645-655/tonne for May production, with booking prices suggested at around $640/t ex-works, stable week-on-week. HDG prices for 0.5mm material meanwhile have remained at $720-750/t ex-works, traders inform.
Good demand in export markets and strong raw material prices have helped Turkish mills maintain firm prices in their home market, despite the lack of a notable improvement in demand.
Domestic end-user demand is not weak, it is rather normal. However, compared to the same period in past years, demand is not good, a service centre source observes.
Turkish ex-works CRC, HDG prices are anticipated to resume growth as domestic HRC prices increase. Demand, however, is not seen improving through March and April, mainly due to the ongoing political uncertainties.
