Coking coal prices gain further
Seaborne coking coal prices appear to be gaining further this week with new spot deals. Chinese coal and coke prices have also gained but the rally may be coming to an end as steel prices stall, Kallanish notes.
75,000 tonnes of branded hard coking coal traded on GlobalCoal at $139.50/tonne fob Australia for October delivery. That compared to another branded cargo sold on the platform sold at $125.75/t for October delivery on 24 August.
