Chinese scrap jumps on short supply
China's scrap prices rebounded last week, boosted by rising steel prices through most of the week. Steel mills actively purchased but the pace of market shipments slowed.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,230/tonne ($505/t), including VAT. This is CNY 9/t higher than Thursday and CNY 110/t higher than the previous Friday.
