Chinese scrap increases with uncertain outlook
Chinese scrap prices jumped last week, driven by a pick-up in the steel market, but the market is relatively cautious about the demand outlook.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,950/tonne ($424/t), including VAT. This is up CNY 69/t from Thursday and up CNY 24/t compared with the previous Friday.
