China's H1 CRC exports to EU decline sharply
Chinese cold-rolled coil exports to the European Union have decreased following the introduction of provisional anti-dumping duties by Europe in the first quarter of 2016. Now that the full duties have been implemented (see Kallanish 5 August), China’s Ministry of Commerce is calling on the EU to avoid abusing trade remedy measures.
According to data released by Chinese customs, in 2015 china’s CRC exports to EU reached 920,945 tonnes, an increase of 29% compared with 2014. In the first half of 2016 however only 17,495t of such exports were registered, a fall of -96% compared with H1 2015.
“The duties imposed for Chinese CRC will improperly impact on local market supply and increase the price, further weakening the competitiveness of EU’s downstream manufacturing relating industries.” China’s Ministry of Commerce says.
