China's scrap prices improve, EAF mills face loss

China's scrap prices have increased as deliveries to mills have declined. Shagang increased its scrap purchase price by CNY 100/tonne ($15.69/t) last week, showing that steel mills are willing to increase inventory before the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday.
