Chinese scrap gains on tight supply
Chinese scrap prices rebounded in the week before the New Year holiday, with steel mills stocking up in advance of the holiday and supporting scrap demand.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,930/tonne ($412/t), including VAT. This is unchanged from Thursday and up CNY 39/t from a week before.
