Chinese scrap gains despite higher arrivals
Chinese scrap prices started the new year's trading with gains in eastern China, but scrap prices in southern China fell due to steel mill overhauls.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,971/tonne ($415/t), including VAT. This is CNY 3/t higher from Thursday and up CNY 41/t from a week before.
