China's rebar inches lower with slow demand
Chinese rebar price declines accelerated last week, despite futures markets showing a slower decrease.
In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,350-3,370/tonne ($461-464/t), down by CNY 90/t on-week, Kallanish assesses. The October 2024 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,544/t on the same day, rising by CNY 9/t compared with Thursday but CNY 19/t lower from a week before.
