British Steel raises structural sections prices from January
Major UK longs supplier British Steel has announced that it is increasing the price of its structural sections.
The steelmaker tells Kallanish that prices for its structural sections will increase by £50/tonne ($67.37/t) in the UK, and €60/t ($70.68/t) in mainland Europe, effective on all deliveries from 1 January 2018.
British Steel attributes the increase to a variety of factors. “Due to increasing demand and capacity utilisation, along with increasing pressure from raw materials, we’re increasing the prices of our structural sections,” says managing director Construction, Richard Farnsworth. “Our prices remain extremely competitive and offer our customers excellent value for money,” the executive adds.
The Scunthorpe, UK-headquartered steelmaker had previously announced an increase of for its structural sections of £30/t as from 3 April 2017. In a similar move yesterday, the company has also increased its wire rod prices (see separate article).
