Ferroeste Group subsidiary Aço Verde do Brasil (AVB) has posted record quarterly sales in the fourth quarter, Kallanish learns from the company's latest operating report.

AVB’s Q4 long steel sales were 102,910 tonnes, down 21.5% compared with the previous quarter but 3.2% higher than the same period in 2023. The company sold 12,198t of semi-finished steel to the domestic market in the period, 0.3% less quarter-on-quarter but 676.6% greater versus just 1,571t in Q4 2023.

“This was our best Q4 results. The on-year growth reflects higher supplies of rebar to the Southeast region’s processing and distribution centres,” AVB comments. The on-year decline was a result of seasonality and lower activity in the holiday period.

AVB’s full-year sales reached 455,526t, which was 10.7% more compared with 2023. From these, semi-finished shipments to the domestic market represented 42,974t.

The company’s net revenue in 2024 was BRL 1.84 billion ($322.5 million), 6.8% more y-o-y, with Q4 net revenue representing BRL 493.7m.

Full-year Ebitda reached BRL 558.4m, representing growth of 3.8% over 2023.

AVB's long steel plant is located in Açailândia, Maranhão state. It has two hot rolling lines with a production capacity of nearly 720,000t/year of longs. The company's steel is produced using 100% renewable energy and pig iron from charcoal, processing all gases of its activities, and has zero carbon footprint. AVB’s products are destined mainly for the domestic market in northern Brazil, as well as for countries in Central and South America.
