Brazil’s April steel trade surplus narrows
Brazil remained a net exporter of steel in April. The country’s trade surplus was almost 291,000 tonnes in the month, a decrease of 32.6% versus March and down 32.8% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
The trade surplus for the first four months of 2024 reached 1.53 million tonnes, compared with 2.52 million tonnes in January-April 2023. The reduction is mainly driven by 17.1% weaker exports on-year.
