Australia foresees lower iron ore prices in 2024

The Australian government foresees iron ore prices easing in 2024 due to new supply and softening demand, Kallanish notes.   The Department of Industry, Science and Resources says in its quarterly report that benchmark iron ore prices are projected to fall to an average of $96/tonne fob in 2024, then decline further to around $77/t fob in 2026, from an estimated average price of around $105/t fob in 2023.
