Australia exempts some HDG from duties
The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has accepted a petition to exempt certain types of zinc-coated steel sheets from China, Korea and Taiwan from dumping duties. An exemption application for certain hollow sections was meanwhile abandoned, Kallanish notes.
Following an application by BlueScope Steel, specific galvanised sheets will no longer pay the duties from 6 August onwards. To qualify for the exemption the sheet must have yield strength of at least 450 MPa, tensile strength of at least 480 MPa, elongation of at least 10%, coating at least 275 gms/square metre and be of dimensions 4x1,200x2,160mm. The duties had been in place since 2013.
The commission also announced this week that an application for a tariff exemption for certain hollow structural sections has been withdrawn. The application by Ronih Enterprises Pty Ltd T/A SureGuide Australia was for six-metre long API 5L B PSL1 ERW pipes with a wall thickness of 4mm. Duties into imports of these goods from China, Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan have been in place since 2012.
