ASEAN rebar, wire rod import markets move sluggishly
The import markets for rebar and wire rod remain sluggish in East Asia despite business resuming after the new year holiday, Kallanish notes.
Prices are unchanged in Singapore. A Malaysian mill continues to offer theoretical-weight rebar at $575/tonne trucked to Singapore, equivalent to $570/t cfr Singapore. The offers apply for minimum 10,000-tonne orders. Buyers are aiming to book at minimum $10/t lower, a Singapore importer says.
