ASEAN billet market staggers on bearishness, scrap weakness
The ASEAN billet import market is deteriorating quickly, Kallanish understands. Suppliers have been lowering offers in recent days amid rising market bearishness and a sharp slide in regional scrap prices.
In Manila, offers for regional blast furnace and EAF billet were steady at $650-660/tonne cfr up to the middle of last week. On Friday, 5sp modified 130mm EAF billet from Vietnam for July/early August shipment was offered at $638/t cfr Manila.
