Acciaierie di Sicilia invests in Catania plant
Italian steelmaker Acciaierie di Sicilia, part of Alfa Acciai, is cutting emissions thanks to modernisation works on its reheating furnace at its facility in Catania.
The upgrade implemented by equipment maker Danieli Centro Combustion will enable direct charging of hot billet in the 80 tonne/hour pusher-type furnace. Emissions will be reduced by cutting approximately 40% of fuel consumption, Kallanish notes.
