India’s KIOCL faces mine land transfer suspension
The Karnataka government has decided to halt the transfer of forest land in Ballari's Sandur region to KIOCL (Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited) for mining operations, according to the state forest, ecology, and environment ministry.
This decision follows the recent approval by Union minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to commence mining activities in the area, sparking protests from environmentalists (see Kallanish passim).
