Brazil has decided to apply anti-dumping (AD) duties against imports of Ukrainian carbon seamless steel tubes, according to a notice published on 24 November in the official gazette of Camex, Brazil’s Foreign Trade Council.

The definitive AD duty has been listed as US$155.80/tonne against two affiliates of the Ukrainian group, Interpipe, namely Interpipe Niko Tube and Interpipe NTRP. The products concerned are line pipe used for oil and gas, with external diameters not exceeding five inches (141.3mm), adds the notice. The duty is understood to concern tonnages imported during the year to end-September 2013.

Exports of these tubes from other Ukrainian sources face a definitive duty of $708.60/t according to the resolution No 106.

Last month, Brazil announced its final determination of anti-dumping duties on imports of certain seamless pipes from China, effectively cutting off the last remaining corner of the country’s seamless pipe market from Chinese suppliers. The country now has four sets of duties in place to protect its sole domestic producer, Vallourec & Mannesmann from Chinese competition (see Kallanish 3 November).
