Volvo, Northvolt to build new battery gigafactory in Europe
Swedish firms Volvo Cars and Northvolt are planning a 50-50 joint venture to develop and produce battery cells for Volvo and Polestar electric vehicles, Kallanish reports.
The companies said on Monday they will build a new battery gigafactory in Europe with capacity of 50 gigawatt-hours per year. The facility, to be run on 100% renewable power, will start production in 2026.
