UK EV registrations buoy declining auto market
The number of electric vehicle (EV) registrations in the UK rose by 88% during 2020 as the overall number of new vehicle sales fell, Kallanish reports.
According to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), there were a total of 465,331 new EV registrations throughout the UK in 2020. These include battery (BEV), hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and mild hybrid (MHEV) electric vehicles.
