UK car plants produce over 29,000 EVs in January
UK car manufacturing increased 21% in January to its best January performance since 2021, as demand for British-built brands grew and supply chain hiccups, such as semiconductor shortages, eased.
Automotive plants around the country produced 82,997 car models, of which 35.7% were electrified, according to SMMT data released on Thursday. Production of battery electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid electric cars rose 4.5% on-year in January to 29,629 units.
