Tesla’s expansion in China, Europe driving LG Chem’s growth
Tesla’s expansion in China and Europe is driving South Korea’s LG Chem -- currently known as LG Energy Solution -- battery cell capacity growth.
Citing two unnamed sources “with knowledge of the matter,” Reuters reported on 1 December that LG Chem is “more than doubling” its battery capacity in China in 2021 to supply Tesla. Increasing the number of production lines from eight to at least 17.
