SQM’s Q1 profit surges on record-high lithium prices
Chilean lithium giant SQM saw its Q1 net profit increase by nearly 12 times to $796.1 million, pushed by record-high lithium prices, Kallanish reports.
Revenues from its lithium business soared 969.5% to $1.44 billion, compared to $135.2m in Q1 2021, as prices surged in the quarter to $38,000/tonne. These record prices were coupled with strong demand, with sales volumes rising 59% year-on-year to 38.1m t.
