RWE, Audi commission battery storage pilot in Germany
German power utility RWE and automaker Audi have commissioned a joint battery storage pilot project using second-life EV batteries, Kallanish reports.
The demonstration project uses 60 end-of-life battery systems from Audi e-tron development vehicles, providing temporary storage for about 4.5 megawatt-hours of electricity. The fixed storage was installed at RWE’s pumped storage power plant in Herdecke, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
