Russia nickel exports to China rise 32% in H1 2023
Exports of Russian raw nickel to China increased in the first half of 2023 by 32% on-year to 18,400 tonnes, according to Chinese customs data.
The increase comes as supplies to the EU shrink, Kallanish notes. Although Russian nickel is not subject to Western sanctions, sales of the metal to EU buyers decreased in January-May by 1.8 times on-year to 15,600 t, according to Eurostat data.
