Rio Tinto, Sumitomo to trial green hydrogen in alumina refining
Rio Tinto and Sumitomo Corporation will trial green hydrogen in alumina refining as part of an AUD 111.1 million ($75.36m) decarbonisation demonstration programme, Kallanish reports.
The Anglo-Australian mining giant said in a statement the project was greenlighted after securing an AUD 32.1m co-funding boost from the Australian government. It also follows an AUD 1.2m feasibility study co-funded by Rio Tinto.
