Rio Tinto, Ford explore EV materials partnership
Rio Tinto and Ford are planning a partnership in the development and supply of low-carbon materials for electric vehicles, Kallanish learns from the companies on Thursday.
Under a MOU signed by the parties, Ford is considering a “significant” lithium offtake from Rio Tinto’s Rincón project in Argentina. Having the US carmaker as a foundational customer at the developing project would help Rio Tinto to accelerate its production.
