PLATINUM, NICKEL: Impact Minerals finds high-grade nickel-copper-PGE at Plat Central
Impact Minerals confirms very high-grade platinum mineralisation along with high-grade nickel and copper in drillholes at Plat Central in Australia’s New South Wales, Kallanish reports.
Assays confirm near-surface high-grade nickel-copper-PGE mineralisation in the recently discovered basal channel, says the company.
One drillhole returned one metre of intersection with 3.3% nickel, 1% copper, 22.7 grams/tonne 7PGE plus silver and cobalt from 62m. The 7PGE includes palladium, platinum, rhodium, osmium, iridium, ruthenium and gold.
A second drillhole intersected 7 m with 0.6% copper, 0.5% nickel and 3.8 g/t of 7PGE including 1 m with 1.2% copper, 0.8% nickel, 6.3 g/t PGE and 19 g/t silver from 58m. A third drill hole intersected 3m with 0.6% copper, 0.4% nickel and 3.3 g/t 3PGE from 52m including 1m with 0.9% copper, 0.4% nickel and 4.7 g/t 3PGE.
Plat Central lies within the company’s Broken Hills Project which is the Curnamona Province.
Its nickel-copper-PGE mineralisation shows strong lateral zonation across the width of the Kambalda-style channel which is likely the product of sulphide fractionation, says the company with headquarters in Perth, Western Australia. The mineralised part of the channel is about 25-30 m wide and between 1-7 m thick, it says.
The results vary with the best returns in the east side of the tract, good returns in the centre and modest returns to the west, it says.
The company says it is using its sulphide fractionation model and its proprietary geochemical ratio guide to help plan additional drilling. Drillholes have also been completed south and up-dip from the initial line at Plat Central with drilling to the north and down-dip set to begin soon, it says. Samples have been submitted for assay analysis with results due back in early January.
The company is also completing drilling at its Little Broken Hill Gabbro, Red Hill and Dora East prospects.
