Northvolt breaks ground on 60-GWh German gigafactory
Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt has broken ground on its German project, Northvolt Drei, in the presence of German chancellor Olaf Scholz and vice chancellor Robert Habeck, Kallanish notes.
The battery gigafactory will have a production capacity of 60 gigawatt-hours, enough to power 1 million electric cars. The project located outside the city of Heide, in northern Germany, is set to create 3,000 new jobs and start production in 2026.
