Nissan eyes 30% cost cut with shared electrified powertrain development
Nissan is targeting a 30% cut in the cost of development and manufacturing of its electrified powertrain by 2026 (compared to 2019 levels) with a new shared approach, Kallanish reports.
Under the so-called X-in-1 approach, the Japanese carmaker says it will modularise powertrain components for its all-electric and e-Power hybrid models. The aim is to enable production of both core components on the same line, increasing efficiency and cutting costs.
