NioCorp mulls commercial production of aluminium-scandium alloy in US
NioCorp Developments says it intends to launch a phased approach to commercial-scale production of aluminium-scandium master alloy, Kallanish reports.
The initiative could establish the United States as a leading producer of scandium, an element used in solid-oxide fuel cells. The addition of scandium to aluminium alloys produces a much stronger alloy for EVs that reduces weight, improves corrosion resistance and allows reliable welding operations.
