NICKEL, LITHIUM: BHP forms exploration alliance with Kobold Metals
Australian miner BHP Group has signed a partnership agreement with billionaire-backed start-up KoBold Metals to discover battery minerals such as nickel and lithium, according to BHP’s statement on Wednesday, Kallanish notes.
The alliance will use machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to look for raw minerals, starting in Western Australia. The initial exploration covers an area of more than 500,000 square kilometres.
