Environmentalists are suing the US Forest Service to overturn a 2017 transfer in Minnesota that gave PolyMet Mining the land it needs to build an open pit copper-nickel mine, Kallanish reports.
The suit, filed by the Center for Biological Diversity, says the $1 billion NorthMet mine project would threaten the Canada lynx and the northern long-eared bat, both of which are listed as threatened with extinction under the US Endangered Species Act.
