Nepal Oil commissions study on green hydrogen
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and the Kathamandu University will study the feasibility of commercial production of hydrogen fuel cells in the country, Kallanish learns.
The parties signed an agreement last Friday, under which engineering researchers at the university will provide technical assistance to the company covering production, storage and distribution of the alternative fuel.
The university runs the so-called Green Hydrogen Lab, with a team led by Biraj Singh Thapa. The unit is focused on helping Nepalese industries to produce, store, transport and use green hydrogen at a commercial level.
Clean hydrogen could replace the fossil fuel the state-owned NOC imports from India, helping the country to enhance its security of supply, while also decarbonising its economy.
