Mercedes-Benz opens battery assembly plant in US
Mercedes-Benz opened a new battery assembly plant in the US to meet demand from upcoming EQS and EQE SUV production at its Tuscaloosa plant, Kallanish reports.
It said on Tuesday the plant in Bibb County, Alabama, is part of its global battery production network, which includes plants in Germany, China, Thailand and Poland. The plan is to have eight cell factories with a combined production of 200 gigawatt-hours by 2030 enabled by partnerships.
