Mercedes-Benz breaks ground on battery recycling plant
Mercedes-Benz has broken ground for its battery recycling pilot plant in Kuppenheim, Germany, Kallanish learns from a statement on Friday.
The German carmaker is building the closed-loop recycling operation with the technical expertise of Primobius – a joint venture between SMS Group and Neometals. The plant will be able to recycle 2,500 tonnes/year of battery-grade nickel, cobalt and lithium. At a later stage, it will also recover graphite.
