Masdar-led consortium targets 4 GW green hydrogen capacity in Egypt

UAE-based Masdar has signed a framework agreement with Egyptian state-backed companies Infinity Power Holding and Hassan Allam Utilities to develop a 2-gigawatt green hydrogen project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Kallanish reports. This electrolyser is planned to start operations in 2026, but the consortium intends to develop 4 GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030 through a second facility on the Mediterranean.
