LITHIUM: Rio Tinto’s $2.4 billion Jadar project hit by intense opposition
Anglo-Australian mining group Rio Tinto has suffered a blow to its plans to develop one of the world’s largest greenfield lithium projects in Serbia, Kallanish reports.
The $2.4 billion Jadar lithium project in western Serbia has faced strong opposition from locals, with protests being held in Belgrave and elsewhere for the entire month of December. The weekend events oppose the investment, which to date has been supported by the government.
