Ionic secures rare earths mining licence in Uganda
Australia’s Ionic Rare Earths says it has secured a mining licence for its Makuutu heavy rare earths project in Uganda – the first large-scale mining licence awarded in the East African country.
The permit allows the company to advance supply chain and offtake engagement. It also positions the company to make a final investment decision later this year, with the first production expected in 2026, Ionic says.
