Ineos, SGN start hydrogen network project in Scotland
British chemicals giant Ineos and natural gas distribution company SGN will trial a 29-kilometre section of a decommissioned gas pipeline to transport hydrogen, Kallanish reports.
The project, funded by the UK’s energy regulator and gas distribution companies, will help determine how existing natural gas networks can be repurposed for hydrogen. It seeks to prove whether such a move is viable and potentially scalable.
