Indonesia announces $1.2 billion battery project
Indonesia is pushing ahead with its ambition to become a global player in the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries. This time, it’s promising to build a 10-gigawatt-hour battery factory in Bekasi.
The country’s investment minister Bahlil Lahadalia announced the $1.2 billion investment in a statement on Monday. The gigafactory is to be built by a South Korean consortium led by LG and state-owned Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC).
