India launches first critical minerals auction
India this week launched the first tranche of its 100-block critical minerals auction, estimated to be worth INR 450 billion ($5.40 billion), Kallanish reports.
Of the 20 mineral blocks, 16 have been put up for the grant of a composite licence, which allows companies to explore the resource and obtain a lease to commercially extract the minerals. The remaining four have been earmarked for the grant of mining leases.
