Glencore, Managem to recycle cobalt, battery materials in Morocco
Glencore, the world’s largest cobalt producer, and Moroccan mining group Managem are planning to produce cobalt, nickel hydroxide and lithium carbonate from recycled materials in Morocco.
Under a partnership announced on Wednesday, Managem’s CTT Hydrometallurgical Refinery at Guemssa, roughly 37 kilometres from Marrakech, will process black mass supplied by Glencore. Black mass is a refinery feed made from recycled lithium-ion batteries.
