RARE EARTH: Germany’s Schaeffler secures rare earth supply for electric motors
Global automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler has secured a five-year rare earth oxide supply deal with Norway’s REEtec AS, Kallanish reports.
The German firm will start procurement in 2024 to make electric motors for hybrid modules, hybrid transmissions and all-electric axle drives. REEtec processes rare earth carbonates produced by Vital Metals in Canada in its plant in Herøa, Norway.
