France authorises natural hydrogen exploration
France’s energy transition ministry has authorised drilling and mining operations in a specific area of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department to explore the so-called natural or white hydrogen.
The region, in southwest France, is thought to have abundant natural deposits of hydrogen. The exclusive permit for the project known as “Sauve Terre H2” was granted to the start-up TBH2 Aquitaine, created in 2022 and based in Pau.
